Discussion on “The Cross and the Lynching Tree”

Pastor Dennis is leading a weekly one-hour discussion of The Cross and the Lynching Tree by James Cone.

The Cross and the Lynching Tree are the two most emotionally charged symbols in the history of the African American community. In this powerful new work, theologian James H. Cone explores these symbols and their interconnection in the history and spirituality of African Americans.  Noting their powerful evocation of suffering and liberation, this unique book opens up vulnerably about the legacy of slavery and racism, and African American identity in America today.

Books will be ordered for those who need a copy.  Contact Pastor Dennis at 412-804-1673 to request a copy or for more information.  The discussions will be every Thursday from 11 am through noon in person and on zoom. (Last session will be Wednesday, March 20 at 11 am.)  For zoom use the Emmanuel Class meeting ID 897 6086 7900, or use the following link:  https://us06web.zoom.us/j/89760867900.
